MACROOM 2 RIVERSTOWN FC 2 aet (Macroom win 3 -2 on penalties)
Riverstown were unlucky to lose in a penalty
shoot out against a very impressive Macroom side. In a tense first half Riverstown
were unable to settle and Macroom dominated possession although chances were
few and far between. Midway through the 2nd half a defensive mix up allowed
Macroom to take the lead but to their credit Riverstown fought back and Peter
McCarthy equalised with a wonderful free kick.
Into extra time and direct from the kick of James Sweeney scored with a shot
which sailed over the goalkeeper. However within minutes Macroom equalised
with a goal from a debatable free kick. Both teams attacked to the end but
2 –2 it remained.
Into penalties and Macroom scored 3 and Riverstown missed 2. Best of luck
to Macroom in the next round.
Under 12 Premier
WILTON UNITED 2 RIVERSTOWN FC 2
Having been promoted last season, Riverstown opened their Premier account with a good away draw against tough opposition in Wilton and were a little dissapointed that they did not get all three points.
