End of Schoolboy's Season

The long season has finally come to a close and the Club can look back with pride on another good year, on and off the pitch, despite the shaky start.

Congratulations must firstly go to Greg Dooley and his Under 13 side who won promotion back to the Premier Division at their first attempt. Well done lads!

The Under 10's, playing in the Under 11 league, finished the season in winning ways and should be a force to reckon with next season when they play under their own age group. Congrats to Finbarr and Plunkett.

Likewise the Under 12A's under John Gilroy also finished the season playing some great football and will also be looking forward to next season.

To all the other teams, well done to everybody. You have continued to make Riverstown FC a Club to be proud of and respected far and wide in football circles.

Off the field, it was a historic season as we finally acquired the home we have been striving for years to get. Eastcliffe is going to be a great home and will be unrecognisable by this time next year. Well done to everybody who have put in so much effort to make the dream come true, and that includes all those people who over the years have never given up the fight. It's great to see many of those back in the Club again. A special word of thanks of course to John, who has been the inspiration behind the whole project.

Awards Night

The end of season Awards night takes place in the Vienna Woods Hotel on Thursday, July 3rd. Proceeding will kick off at 7.00pm

We must not forget that while the Schoolboy's football is over for a couple of months, the Senior Women's side are in the middle of their season. Next Wednesday night at Knockraha, they meet neighbours Watergrasshill in the 1/4 Finals of the Kevin Barry Cup.

Coaches Wanted

Riverstown F.C. are looking for parents to join up as coaches. As we all know the greater Glanmire - Riverstown area has had a huge population increase over the last 10 years or so and this has led to a huge number of children wanting to play soccer. In previous years we may have had 20 kids in each of the age goups ages 7 to 10, this number has increased to as many as 40 and more in some age groups, yet the amount of coaches are as little as 2 or 3 as in previous years. We are now looking to increase the number of coaches we have and will organise special F.A.I. coaching sessions to introduce you to coaching children. If you are interested please contact Noel on the Riverstown phone at 086-0772157.

Riverstown Soccer Club

Riverstown F.C. was formed in 1994 to facilitate and promote the development of Soccer in the Riverstown/Glanmire area, a growing suburb of Cork City.

That objective continues to be the underlying focus in all the activities that the Club undertakes. We are fortunate in the time, enthusiasm and commitment that the adult members of the Club gladly give to the youth of the parish.
